Vincent Van Gogh painting La Mousme in 1888 and this portrait features a Provencale girl with his beautiful rich colors. Van Gogh was a Dutch painter that spent a lot of time in France and this painting was inspired after he read Loti's Madame Chrysanthème. The book is about the French fascination with Japanese culture through the story of a French man's affair with a Japanese girl. Van Gogh sympathetically painted this girl after being inspired by this book. This particular image would look lovely on a gallery wall featuring complementary colors and serene images.
