Van Gogh Siesta 1890 Print - Van Gogh always enjoyed painting outdoors, and the view from Saint Paul was no exception. The Olive Trees With Yellow Sky And Sun was just one of many paintings he completed during his stay at the psychiatric hospital. Though he had only recently recovered from an illness, Van Gogh felt well enough to set up his easel and canvas outside the walls of the asylum. The resulting painting is a beautiful landscape that captures the colors and light of Provence in the fall. Though Van Gogh would only spend a few more months in Saint Remy before moving on to Arles, the Olive Trees would remain one of his most beloved paintings, and a reminder of the peaceful days he spent in the asylum gardens.
The olive grove paintings were a series of five works created by Vincent van Gogh in 1889. The series is notable for its innovative use of colour and Van Gogh's interest in expressing his emotions through the use of bold colors and sweeping brushstrokes. The series is also noteworthy for its depiction of the natural world, specifically the olive trees that Van Gogh observed while living in Arles, France. The paintings are held in high regard by art historians and are considered to be some of Van Gogh's best work. The olive grove paintings are a beautiful example of Van Gogh's unique approach to art and his commitment to capturing the world around him in all its colours and textures.
