Amsterdam Canal Houses Watercolor Print - Amsterdam's canal houses are undeniably beautiful, and it's easy to see why they're such a popular tourist attraction. However, it's important to remember that these buildings weren't always associated with a leisured, easy life. In fact, if you take a closer look at their appearance and layout, you'll notice some telltale signs that they were actually built for other purposes. For example, the extremely skinny shape of the houses was designed to maximize the amount of sunlight that could enter each room. This was especially important during the Dutch Republic's 17th century peak, when canals were used for transportation and commerce. The layout of the houses also suggests that they were built with utility in mind, as each floor is interconnected in a way that would have made it easy to move goods from one level to another. So next time you're admiring Amsterdam's canal houses, remember that they weren't always the picturesque sites of a idyllic life. Instead, they're a reminder of the city's rich history and culture.

Had some shipping issues, but the seller re-sent the items. When the items arrived (a 5x7 print of Amsterdam canal houses), the quality was lower than I expected. It is a water color, so of course the lines are not going to be sharp, but the print is blurrier than the item appears in the listing. I had planned to give the prints as a gift. I ended up putting them in frames to make them look better.
